Third Pregnancy Nesting Purchases

“Nesting” according to Google is the instinctual urge to prepare the home for a baby’s arrival. I am a major nester! I was told that the nesting phase typically never comes in the third pregnancy. Well, I have been in feverish nesting mode pretty much the whole time. All of the baby clothes from my first two children have been washed and hanging in the closet for months now. I have taken somewhere between ten and fifteen bags of clothes, shoes, and other things to the goodwill. I have reorganized bathrooms, toy closets, and our kitchen a couple different times as well as my own closet once. Because this is our third there are not too many purchases that really need to be made in anticipation for our baby’s arrival, but (in an effort to get the house in the best state that I can) I have made a few more random purchases than in pregnancies past.

1. A New Chandelier

My first random nesting purchase was a new chandelier! (Link here: https://amzn.to/4dEzjLz with light bulbs sold separately, link here: https://amzn.to/4mEtSAC ) When we originally moved into our house there was only one thing about it that I absolutely loathed. The subject of my ire was the chandelier in the dining room. It was metal, but made to look more like wood that was painted in distressed white. Twine like rope was wrapped around the limbs leading up to the ceiling, but if you were fortunate enough to be right beneath it, you could be greeted by a large, circled, western style star. It was not my thing in the slightest. Therefore, I finally took care of that this past month by replacing that cowboy inspired focal point with something more unique and a little more modern. It still has a somewhat rustic ring to it, but it is also just more us.

2. Spice Stairs

My second random nesting purchase is this set of spice stairs (Link here: https://amzn.to/3Za2jVD ) We were storing our spices in a large drawer beside our oven. However, our hoarding of spices began to fill the drawer in a way that was just not manageable. I opted to put these little wooden stairs on the bottom shelf of the cabinet above that drawer instead.

3. An Immersion Blender

My third purchase was an immersion blender. (Link here: https://amzn.to/4kzLsDO ) I purchased this anticipating a time when I will eventually be making homemade mayonnaise for my growing family. I also planned to use it to make other homemade things, but I am forgetting what exactly those things were at the moment. It will come to me again, at some point.

4. A Spider Plant & an Aloe Vera Plant

My fourth purchase is actually two purchases. A Spider Plant and an Aloe Vera Plant from Warren’s Family Garden Center. There are many benefits to owning houseplants. Most houseplants purify the air of molds and toxins while adding moisture. All of this improves the air quality within a home which can allegedly be connected to better sleep, cognitive function, and a decline in respiratory problems. I bought both of these plants for the main bathroom because they are specifically known for removing toxins. There are claims that the Spider Plant can remove odors and the Aloe Vera plant is a solid thing to keep around in case of burns and such. I even went back for a second Aloe Vera plant after deciding it would be perfect for a ceramic pot I picked up randomly because it was too cute and the price was too good to leave it at Aldi! If you can’t make it to Warren’s Family Garden Center, but are interested in seeing if these plants could benefit you, I did find some Amazon options you could take a chance on! 5. Macrome Plant Hangers

Finally, the purchase that gave way to the plant purchases was a pack of Macrome Plant Hangers. (Link here: https://amzn.to/440lSl5 ) We will more than likely have some of these hanging in virtually every window in our house before our lives are over. I love the way they look from the outside of the house looking in. I love the extra space for plants provided by these woven creations, without taking up more of the floor. They have been great! If you have places to hang them and they work with the look of your home, I highly recommend.
